Our Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeons in North Lakes
Orthopaedic surgeons specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of problems with the musculoskeletal system. They treat musculoskeletal trauma, sports injuries, congenital conditions, degenerative diseases and tumours and infections of the musculoskeletal system.
While your general medical practitioner is well-qualified to set a simple break in an arm or leg, the orthopaedic surgeon will be called in when the break or fracture requires more specialised treatment, such as the placement of rods or screws into the bone to aid in the healing and knitting process and the regeneration of the bones involved.
Orthopaedic surgeons also perform hip and knee replacement surgery and all types of spinal surgery require an orthopaedic surgeon. They also perform arthroplasty, which is a total joint reconstruction. They regularly perform most foot and ankle surgeries as the foot contains 25% of the bones in the human body.
